yesterday i buried one of my friends.
what do you say to the mother who’s grieving.
the father who bows his head.
the twin brother who lost his other half.
all i can do is twist the program in my hands and bite my lip to keep the tears from breaking through.
I’m standing in the background. surrounded by a sea of black. a room of complete emptiness & sadness, muffled with the sounds of quiet sobs as we witness a family grieving,
the mother leans over the casket & kisses her little boy on the forehead. her shoulders quiver and the sadness takes over, bringing her to the knees. she grips the side of the casket, not wanting to let go.
her two sons, lift her to her feet and they embrace her. Embracing the family they still have.
